Early in my career, I was a teacher. My life experiences have helped me to stay grounded and to consider the needs of multiple audiences, which my clients have considered an important asset.

I began my path toward becoming a writer when I filled the marketing/communications manager's role at a local youth shelter where I had been volunteering. I had intended to continue a career in education, but instead, I found I had a knack for communications. I particularly enjoyed telling clients’ stories and helping give people the opportunity to contribute to their communities.

Since 2010, I have worked in both nonprofit development and corporate marketing and communications. I was most recently a marketing manager of creative services before I became an independent writer in 2014. I have formal training in design, and I play well across teams including agencies and independent contractors.

I have a B.A. in English composition from the University of North Texas as well as an M.Ed. focusing in Art Education from the University of Houston.
